The ministry in collaboration with the Uganda Police Force and Stirling Civil Engineering Limited confirmed on Friday that works on Phase One of the bypass will resume tomorrow.

The works, spanning a 21-kilometre stretch, will commence on Saturday, 28th December 2024, and are expected to last for at least six months.

The maintenance, according to a ministry statement, will focus on critical sections of the bypass, particularly around the Kisasisi and Busega interchanges.

The scope of work includes removing old asphalt, reprocessing the base, priming, and laying a new asphalt overlay,”  said Works Minister Gen Katumba Wamala in the statement.

To ensure safety and efficiency, affected sections of the carriageway will be completely closed both day and night during the repairs, with traffic diverted to the opposite side.

While the opposite side of the road will remain accessible for diversions, the Ministry has advised road users to plan their journeys carefully and consider alternative routes to minimise delays.

Those relying on the bypass for daily commutes are urged to anticipate disruptions and exercise patience throughout the construction period.
