Pit latrine collapses in Nyeri, buries 3 people alive

A pit latrine in Kiandu, Nyeri County collapsed on Wednesday trapping three people who were digging it.

Walls collapsed

The Wednesday afternoon incident is believed to have resulted from the heavy rainfall being experienced across the country. The three men were digging the latrine when the walls caved in covering them with soil.

On Wednesday morning, they had already dug 37 feet and were hoping to dig up to 50 feet before the unfortunate incident occurred.

Rescue mission

Operations by the Fire brigade, Red cross and the locals to rescue the three are still going on.
