Barcelona head coach, Xavi Hernadez has revealed that German goalkeeper, Marc Andre ter-Stergen is “among the three best goalkeepers” in the world and is perfectly suited for the game that they play.
Speaking in the aftermath of the Blaugrana’s 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou stadium, the club legend virtually ran out of superlatives after the custodian equaled Claudio Bravo’s clean-sheet record of 23 games in a single La Liga season.
When the high press is broken, Barcelona can rely on, in Xavi’s words, “the best Marc-Andre ter Stegen in a long time.”

“Marc André ter-Stegen is among the three best goalkeepers in the world,” he said, “ and because of our game I think he is the best, ” he added.
The German international has conceded goals in just seven of the 30 games played. He has been beaten by: Real Sociedad, Real Madrid (in two games), Osasuna, Espanyol, Betis and Almeria: but in the other 23, he has thwarted everything that has come his way.
Against Atletico, he didn't have too much work to do, but when he did, he dealt with it with the security and coolness that characterize him. He was outstanding in shots from Griezmann and Carrasco, especially. He was once again a wall.
Ter Stegen's form is fundamental not only to understanding why Barcelona are the lowest-scoring team in LaLiga, having conceded just nine goals (two at Camp Nou), but also to justifying their lead at the top of the table: Real Madrid are 11 points behind.
