Suspects arrested in murder of mother of popular Ugandan referee

Police have arrested four people over the alleged murder of the mother of a popular Ugandan referee Denis Batte.

Tereza Ziribaggwa, 70, was found dead lying in a pool of blood on Monday, June 25th, outside her home in Kyengera Town Council.

Authorities collected some exhibits, including a bloodstained panga, after combing the crime scene.

The four suspects have been identified as Paul Mayanja 35, Denis Luburwa 40, Charles Nsubuga 47 and Dinah Tino aged 32. Their arrest followed an intensive investigation

One of the suspects was found with blood-stained clothes during a police raid and search at her home.

The officers recovered "handbag, a cash box with 60,000/-, mattress and a suitcase with clothes positively identified to be belonging to the deceased".

Another suspect was arrested after investigators recovered bloodstained bedsheets from his home.

The collected exhibits have been sent to Government Analytical Laboratory (GAL) in Wandegeya for examination as investigations continue.
