The Nigeria Super Falcons, fresh off their historic "Mission X" victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), have been handsomely rewarded by the federal government and state officials, marking a proud moment for Nigerian football.
Each Super Falcons player received over ₦150 million in cash rewards, complemented by a prestigious national honour and a 3-bedroom apartment as part of the celebratory package.
The players were conferred with the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), a distinguished national award recognising their outstanding achievement in bringing home Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title.
In addition to the OON titles and luxurious flats at the Renewed Hope Estate, the team was each granted $100,000 in prize money, while each of the 11 officials received $50,000. Furthermore, the Nigerian Governors Forum sweetened the reward with an additional ₦10 million per team member.
The lavish rewards were officially presented following a grand reception hosted in honor of the victorious Super Falcons, with President Bola Tinubu personally conferring the national honors on the players and their technical crew per an NTA post on X.
This significant gesture not only acknowledges the Falcons' impressive comeback victory against Morocco but also Nigeria’s commitment to celebrating and uplifting women’s football on the continent.
While the nation basks in the glory of their continental champions, these rewards stand as a testament to the team’s dedication, and the historic legacy they continue to build with Mission X accomplished.
The heartfelt celebrations and generous gifts reflect a united Nigeria’s pride in the Super Falcons, signaling a bright and promising future for women’s football in the country.
