Brian Isiko, a 25-year-old student, has been granted bail in a case where he pleaded guilty of sending sexy texts to Kabarole Woman MP Sylvia Rwabwogo.
His lawyers on Tuesday appealed to the High Court challenging the 2 year prison sentence. The legal team claimed that Buganda Road Court blundered and based on partial admission.
High Court judge Jane Francis Abodo granted him a cash bail of UGX500,000. His sureties were ordered pay a non cash bond of UGX5m.
The sureties included retired UPDF captain Reagan Muganza and Godfrey Waako, an Assistant Academic Registrar at Kyambogo University.
Last month, he pleaded guilty to 25 charges of cyber harassment and offensive communication after the MP tricked him to get arrested.
Conditions
Justice Abodo ordered the 25-year-old student to report to the Deputy Registrar of the High Court every 3rd Friday on the month starting this August.
Isiko was also conditioned never to contact Sylvia Rwabwogo again.
He risks being arrested and remanded if he violates the conditions.
