Kirinyaga County Assembly Speaker David Githaga has resigned from office.

According to reports, Githaga stepped down from office citing personal issues.
In the resignation letter seen by Pulselive.co.ke, Githaga stated that his resignation would take effect of August 15.

"I hereby tender my resignation as Speaker of the County Assembly of Kirinyaga for personal reasons," the County Speaker wrote.

He thanked the county's governor, Anne Waiguru, Ward Representatives and other staff at the Assembly for their cooperation.
The letter dated July 30 was sent to the Clerk of the County Assembly, the governor and the leader of the Majority party Kamau Murango.
