Why he was denied bail.

A defence lawyer told reporters in Kampala that the High Court objected granting bail to their client because his charge is of "grave nature".

The High Court said it's "risky to grant bail to such a person" despite presenting substantial sureties.

Judge Jane Frances Abodo added that releasing the murder suspect to the public is risky and would interfere with investigations.

Bail reapplication

Wamala's defence lawyer Carolyn Namara said they are going to try and re-apply for bail.

"We as lawyers believe that even if murder is of a grave nature, our client still has the constitutional presumption of innocence", Namara said
