President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned traders against hiking prices of commodities, products and services in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

Speaking at State House Nairobi on Wednesday, President Kenyatta stated that any business entity that increases the prices will have stern action taken against them.

"I'm appealing to all our business fraternity to act like our friends in the Banking sector have acted."

"Act in the interest of our people and country, that way we will all be able to survive and see ourselves through this unfortunate," Uhuru stated.

President's warning

President Kenyatta asked Kenyans to pull together to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Let's minimise the economic impact brought about by this problem. Let us not take undue advantage," Uhuru said.

"This is not the time to take advantage of Kenyans. Traders and supermarket owners should do their business right and justly," he added.

The President further noted that making profits is not a problem, but it is highly immoral to take advantage of an unfortunate situation to make super profit
