Ugandas longest serving President Kaguta Museveni is expected to address the nation on Sunday, September 9th.
The 73-year-old head of state returns in the country today from China where he held bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of three agreements between the two countries on infrastructure, economic and humanitarian cooperation.
Museveni is expected to address the current political situation in the country as human rights defenders and opposition members continue to fault his government for using brutal force against civlians.
The national address comes after the president threatened to dissolve Parliament, according to The Observer.
He reportedly said "I can do away with that parliament" while addressing ruling party MPs at State House on August 27.
“Between 1971 and 1979 (Idi Amin dictatorship - Ed), there was no parliament…Don’t think that you are in heaven; do what took you there. You should know where the power of that parliament comes from… in fact, I can do away with that parliament,” Museveni said.
