Police have revealed damning details after raiding USAFI Mosque in Kisenyi where women and children were rescued and 2 armed suspects shot dead during an operation.
18 women and 94 children of "various nationalities were all rescued unharmed", according to a police statement.
36 suspects, involved in acts of terrorism & radicalization, were arrested and being detained as investigations continue.
Police recovered 60 rounds of 7.62MM ammunition, bow and arrows, 23 doubled edge pangas and a laptop --Â weapons believed to have been "used in committing heinous crimes".
The details further reveal that "two hostage takers were shot dead after violently attacking and injuring one of the security officers".
Preparations to reunite the hostages with their families are underway as Child and Family Protection Unit of the Police temporarily takes care of the rescued children.
USAFI Mosque will "continue to be secured and restricted" to ensure safety and security.
