The storm deroofed the school structures leaving pupils from P1-p3 without classrooms to study.
The learners for months, had to bear the brunt of studying out in the open.
The school story however, could be taking a turn for the better as news coverage of the tragedy drew concern and support from well wishers.
Andrew Kyamagero, a journalist with NTV Uganda after learning about the school situation, led the efforts to come to the rescue of the learners.
Utilizing his big social media following, he rallied his friends and fans to unite behind a common cause: to re-roof the school and provide its pupils with a gender-sensitive pit latrine.
Many were touched and indeed they contributed, among them Mr Stephen Keddi, the founder of Keddi Foundation.
He didn't just stop at pledging his support, he ventured to Namisindwa District to witness the situation firsthand. And there, amidst the ruins, he discovered other pressing needs among the dedicated teaching staff.
During the visit to the area, he offered the teaching staff a lifeline, providing them with a sacco capital of Shs 10 million to empower them and foster financial security. He also provided an assortment of scholastic materials to the young learners.
In total, the philanthropist committed $1.2 million or about Shs 4.3Billion to go toward supporting education and relief response to the greater Elgon sub region.
