Police alleges that Ssenyonjo confined a total of 47 children (27 boys and 20 girls) in a single room at Wakish pepsi cola market in Kayunga-Naluvula.
According to the police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, Ssenyonjo claimed he had started a non-governmental organisation (NG0) to help children in need.
“The pastor was claiming that he had started an NGO to help children in need, but when we asked him for paperwork that shows he had a registered, he had none. We decided to arrest him as we conduct more investigations,” Enanga told journalists during the weekly police security presser at their headquarters in Naguru.
He said Police is working hand-in-hand with NGOs in the area to establish the home areas of the children who had been trafficked.
Police cautioned parents to be mindful of the kind of people they deal with saying some people are only using children for ungodly acts such as engaging in same-sex sexual pleasures.
“We have been seeing videos of children being groomed by some NGOs to learn ungodly acts of same-sex sexual pleasures,” Enanga said.
He added: “We strongly caution parents out there to be mindful of who you give your child to. We have tried to fight acts of sexual exploitation most especially when it comes to children. Most people are saying Police is not doing enough, but this is partly because some people who are victims are not willing to come forward. I encourage people to come and report anything they find illegal.”
