The Ugandan government has issued a Cholera outbreak alert in its capital city of Kampala.
Ministry of Health says 7 cases have been confirmed and the persons are undergoing treatment in Naguru.
3 of the cases reported are from Mpigi District and other four are from Kalerwe, a Kampala neighborhood in Kawempe Division
Two isolation centres have been established at Mulago National Referal Hospital and China-Uganda Friendship Hospital (CUFH) to handle new Cholera cases.
The latest Cholera outbreak has been attributed to the heavy seasonal rains which are causing flash floods which are contaminating water sources.
In Amudat District, at least two people died of Cholera and 48 others are receiving treatment at Amudat health center IV.
Government has advised people to boil all drinking water and open all water drainage channels for drain stagnant water
Cholera kills about 143,000 people and about 1.3m to 4m cases are reported every year.
