Besigye has called for a "new start" saying "security systems are clearly dysfunctional".

The four time presidential candidate has been poking holes to the government's security apparatus.

"Uganda's insecurity affects upper & bottom rungs of society equally & brutally," he posted on Twitter.

The 62-year-old NRM legislator was assassinated together with his bodyguard near his home in Kawanda, Wakiso District, on Friday at around 6:30PM
