President Museveni encouraged Japanese investors to set up shop in Uganda rather than importing raw materials, something he said was not beneficial to Africa and Uganda because it has kept the continent stagnant despite possessing natural deposits capable of catapulting our economy.

The President also informed the visiting foreign minister that until 2013, only 32% of Ugandans were involved in the money economy, that Government interventions have since doubled that figure, and that those who are involved in the money economy are dealing in raw materials, which presents another challenge.

"We are thus experiencing what is known as perennial haemorrhage, which is responsible for Africa's stunting due to our bankrupt planners, combined with external parasites who manipulate, interfere politically, and collaborate with traitors to retard Africa," the President remarked.

As a result, he urged Japanese manufacturing firms to invest in Uganda and add value to Ugandan exports such as coffee.

President Museveni also asked the Japanese Foreign Minister to find companies that can manufacture automobile batteries because Uganda possesses Lithium.

"We are already manufacturing electric cars, but we need car batteries," President Museveni said.

The Japanese Ambassador to Uganda, Hindemoto Fukuzawa, Jeje Odongo, Uganda's Foreign Minister, Katumba Wamala, the Minister of Works and Transport, and the Attorney General, Kiryowa Kiwanuka, also attended the meeting.
