Shocking as it may sound, the feeling is as mutual as when lawyer Severino Twinobusingye was awarded UGX12bn by court in costs in 2012, arguably the largest ever given out to an individual.
The Court of Appeal on Monday slashed the costs from an alarming UGX12bn to only UGX12m.
A team of lawyers, including Twinobusingye, was awarded the costs for challenging Parliament and Attorney General in a high level oil bribery case.
The lawyers were representing Ministers Hilary Onek, Sam Kuteesa and then Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi.
The three were accused of taking bribes to facilitate transactions of oil companies in Uganda.
The court bench of 5 judges ruled that the costs awarded to Twinobusingye were "excessive" and there was "nothing special".
The decision comes after government, through the Attorney General, appealed the decision by the Constitutional Court saying "the court awards were astronomical and abnormal".
Mr. Twinobusingye also represented former presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi in the 2016 presidential petition against President Museveni.
