The New Year’s Eve festival showrunner Abby Musinguzi aka Abitex says he decided to drop Mayinja because he does not seem ready to turn the page from his past mistakes.
Abitex says Mayinja reached out to him weeks ago seeking help to get back into music performances, and that he was ready to support him until he heard his comments about Bobi Wine.
“He came to me and told me some touching words; he said he wanted to return to the stage and I told him I had no problem,” Abitex recounted on Sunday.
“I put him on the lineup for Ekuuka to sing for the people; he even made some video teasers which are still on my phone. I thought he was changed,” Abitex said.
“Then I heard him commenting that he does not need Bobi Wine’s second chance...that is when I realised he has a big problem,” he said.
Since last month, Mayinja has repeatedly emphasised that he does not need Bobi Wine’s forgiveness as earlier suggested by Alien Skin.
Mayinja says despite his fallout with the NUP leader, he has maintained his fanbase and musical standing.
“I have nothing to do with NUP and they also don’t add anything to my life. I have achieved almost everything I have always wanted even if I want to go build in Munyonyo now I can do it,” Mayinja said last week.
These remarks, according to Abitex, are proof that the former Eagles Production and Golden Band artist is still not ready to reconcile with his fanbase.
It is understood that Mayinja will be performing on December 26, at the Tondeka e Kiwatule concert, organized by Bebe Cool, another nemesis of Bobi Wine’s.
The Enkuuka festival is one of the oldest and biggest New Year’s Eve shows in the country.
It is held in Bulange, Mengo and opened by the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
