FC Porto and Nacional have faced each other five times in recent years, with Porto winning three matches and Nacional claiming two victories. Their most recent encounter came at the end of last season when Porto secured a comfortable 3:0 win at the Estadio do Dragao, with Francisco Moura scoring in the first minute, Samuel Omorodion converting from the penalty spot, and Rodrigo Mora adding a third in the 83rd minute. However, Nacional did manage to upset Porto earlier in the 2024/25 season, winning 2:0 at the Estadio da Madeira with goals from Dudu and Ze Vitor.

FC Porto have been in exceptional form, winning all five of their recent matches across competitions. In Liga Portugal, they've been perfect with four wins from four games, starting with a commanding 3:0 victory against Vitoria de Guimaraes (on 11.08.2025), followed by an away win at Gil Vicente (0:2 on 18.08.2025), a dominant 4:0 home triumph over Casa Pia AC (on 24.08.2025), and most impressively, defeating rivals Sporting CP away (1:2 on 30.08.2025). They also beat Atletico Madrid 1:0 in a pre-season friendly. Nacional, meanwhile, have struggled with consistency, winning just one of their last five matches. After opening their league campaign with a 0:2 loss to Gil Vicente (on 09.08.2025), they drew 1:1 with Rio Ave (on 17.08.2025), suffered a heavy 1:4 defeat to Sporting CP (on 23.08.2025), before finally securing their first win against Casa Pia AC (0:2 on 30.08.2025). They also lost 3:0 to Maritimo in a friendly match.
