Barely three weeks after age limit ruling, lawyer Male Mabirizi has filed an appeal to the Supreme Court challenging the Constitutional Courts ruling on age limit petition.
He arrived at the Supreme Court on Monday with a small truck loaded with hundreds of petition files. The court's Deputy Registrar Godfrey Angualia Opefeni received his record of appeal.
Mabirizi's record of appeal has 30,692 pages -- which are contained in 154 bound books.
The lawyer wants the court to totally nullify the Age Limit Parliamentary Act 2017 citing illegalities.
On July 27th, the Constitutional Court sitting in Mbale District, ruled that Parliament's vote to lift the presidential age limit was constitutional and legal. Mabirizi was one of the petitioners of age limit petition.
The same court ruled that the extension on MPs terms from 5 to 7 years was null and void - therefore unconstitutional.
Mabirizi appealed to the Supreme Court challenging some of the sections of the ruling.
He listed 80 grounds against the age limit petition ruling including refusal to summon Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, failure to nullify the entire Constitutional Amendment Act No. 1 of 2018 among others.
