Former Buyende DPC ASP Muhammad Kirumira has filed an appeal against his conviction to the Police Council Appellate Court.
Kirumira was convicted on charges of parading suspects and excessive use of authority by the police court in Naguru.
The same court recommended for his demotion from the recommended the demotion of Assistant Superintendent of Police-ASP to Assistant Inspector of Police-AIP.
In the court documents, the maverick police officer says court based "itself on erroneous finding not backed by any evidence to support the verdict of conviction".
He details in his appeal that court relied on evidence of a single witness who wasn't not the principle witness.
Mr. Kirumira also accuses court of refusing to consider the evidence of the defense and its submissions -- saying "prosecution case remained a frivolous and weak one to cause a verdict of guilty".
He wants the conviction to be overturned and sentence quashed since the "judgment was drafted out of conflict", according to the appeal.
