Kenyan man busted after swallowing cocaine to smuggle for a Nigerian

A Kenyan man was arrested at Suvarnabhumi airport, in Thailand after trying to smuggle more than a kilogramme of cocaine.

Thai authorities stated that Glenn Chivasello Ooko, 43, was held after an X-ray revealed 68 small packets inside his stomach. 

Later officials found that Ooko had attempted to smuggle 1.2kg of cocaine.

Authorities said Ooko had flown on Monday from Ethiopia to the Thai capital's Suvarnabhumi airport, where he was detained.

"He swallowed cocaine weighing 1.2 kilograms, which were in 68 packets," the ONCB announced in a statement Wednesday.

Recruited  couriers 

Ooko was arrested along with Nigerian national Osita Joseph Ukpa, who police said had hired the Kenyan to smuggle the drugs.

Drug trafficking is arguably one of the most devastating illegal trades in the world, yet one of the most lucrative as well.

Drug barons use ingenious ways to smuggle drugs into their country of choice, but they are not blind to the risk of being apprehended. 

They, therefore, recruit a mule or a courier, whom they pay to ferry the drugs to the chosen destination.
