Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kale Kayihura is being detained at a military barracks in Makindye following his arrest early this month.
The details of his arrest have been scanty and confusing but his lawyers have started revealing some of the little information.
Kayihura's lawyer Jet Tumwebaze on Thursday shared a bit of what his client is going through at the military barracks in Mbuya.
Tumwebaze disclosed that Kayihura is not in a cell -- but rather in a self contained house with a bedroom and living room.
He says the former IGP is well and the legal team has visited him several times. He adds that people shouldn't be disturbed by the falsehoods in the media.
Kayihura has been in detention for 8 days now and no charges have been preferred against him.
The lawyer said his client "hasn't yet recorded any ink of statement and hasn't been interrogated by the military".
He raised concern former police chief being detained for over 48 hrs but said "I’m alive to the wider status of Kayihura...and the nation will be informed by the military if they choose to".
