Katatumba demands UGX1bn compensation from Chicken Tonight

Singer and philanthropist Angella Katatumba is demanding UGX1bn in compensation and damages from Chicken Tonight restaurant after she was assaulted by its employees in March.

The singer, through her lawyers, alleges that she was battered by the restaurant's staff and also stole her money amounting to UGX6.2m.

Her lawyers also demand the Kabalagala based restaurant to pay their legal fees amounting to UGX100m within a week.

Ms. Katatumba suffered "grievous bodily harm" after the "viscous attack", the lawyer's document states.

She was also diagnosed with Post Concussion Syndrome, anterior Hyphema and erythema around the left eye

The lawsuit further details that medical specialists recommended a "monthly therapy for an estimated period of two years and medication".

Meanwhile, Makindye Chief Magistrate Elias Kakooza on Wednesday granted bail to three restaurant employees who allegedly assaulted Ms. Katatumba.
