Kasese school attack: Russian Federation consoles Uganda
In a statement shared by the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, on her official Twitter handle, the chairperson of the Russian Federation Council, Valentina Matviyenko, said the merciless killing of innocent children is a crime that will never be forgiven.
"It is with deep sadness and pain that the members of the Federation Council of the Federation Assembly of the Russian Federation have learned about the terrorist attack on the school in Mpondwe," the statement read.
It further read: "The merciless killing of innocent children is a crime that will never be forgiven. I am convinced that the attackers and organisers will not escape their deserved punishment. In this difficult hour, I send words of support to you and all Ugandan citizens, as well as my deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims."
The Speaker accompanied the statement with words of acknowledgement, saying Parliament was deeply touched by the Russian Federation for standing with Uganda in such a difficult time.
"We are deeply touched by the Federation Council of the Federal Russian Assembly of the Russian Federation, headed by the Rt. Hon. Valentina Matviyenko, for standing with us at such a time of immense sorrow, following the loss of our young innocent children in the hands of ruthless rebels in Kasese. Your thoughtful words at such a time are enormously comforting," she said.
