The paper further reported that the lawyers noted in a letter dated April 27 that they have on several occasions written to the office of the DPP in respect of the case but nothing was done about it.

The lawyers further stressed that over half a decade ago, the DPP’s predecessors promised to have the matter investigated afresh and assured members of the public to handle the same to its logical conclusion.

He [DPP] pledged to allow the father of the deceased an opportunity to give police further evidence for consideration and have the file sanctioned,” the letter read in part.

It further read: “The purpose of this letter, therefore, is to invite your good office to consider reopening the file, invite, among others, our client to give information regarding investigations and reconstruction of the scene of crime, which will culminate into justice for our client’s late son.”

The deceased was allegedly burnt down in the home of renowned singer Jose Chameleone in 2012.

According to the Daily Monitor, Chamelone's wife Danilla however said Karamaji burnt himself while trying to burn her.

The matter which was being investigated by Police was closed by the then DPP Mike Chibita after the family, through their lawyers, failed to present enough evidence.

The father of the deceased however later stormed the DPP office questioning why his son’s suspects were not arrested to which Chibita agreed that he presents more evidence to Police.
