Kataleya and Kandle praise former management despite leaving
"We've been around. We had misunderstandings with our former management, so we needed time to reflect," said Kandle while appearing on Galaxy TV's Rewind on Wednesday, 12 June.
"We needed time to be with people who care about us... immediate family."
The other half of Kataleya and Kandle, which has now rebranded to K&K Music, said that without Theron Music, they would probably be nowhere.
"We want to thank them for bringing us to where we are, but in work, there are always issues," said Kataleya. "We got into misunderstandings, and things didn't work out."
Kataleya and Kandle left Theron Music for various reasons, but the most shocking was that the record label, owned by David Kalemera, had installed cameras inside their apartment to monitor them.
This development was revealed by Eddy Kenzo, who had dropped them there and was invited inside.
Reports indicate that the fallout between the duo and management happened in November 2023, just three months after the launch of their Extended Play titled Call It Love.
The duo released an enterprising mini-album made by some of the best producers, video directors, and writers in the country.
It featured heavy hitters like Nessim, Artin Pro, Eli Arkhis, Magic Washington, Fik Fameica, B2C, Yese Omani Rafiki, and Dokta Brain.
Kandle, real name Rebecca Robins Nabatuusa, and Kataleya, real name Hadiijah Namakula, met through a mutual friend on the latter's birthday.
They initially teamed up to sell clothes until they met Producer Ronnie on Dis One, who recorded a demo for them that they used to impress Theron Music.
Their first hit song was Do Me, but it didn't become one until after a month. Before Do Me, they had released Muziba wa Love followed by Tonafuya, both also recorded while under the management of Theron.
