Kampala embraces quieter nightlife built around games, social bonding
Black & White hosted another Quiz Night at El Nivel Bar and Restaurant in Kiwatule.
The event attracted revellers seeking calmer and more engaging nightlife experiences.
Participants competed in several quiz rounds, including a Met Gala-inspired session.
Organisers say quiz nights continue to grow in popularity across Kampala.
Kampala’s growing appetite for calm and experience-driven nightlife was evident on the evening of May 6, as Black & White hosted another Quiz Night activation at El Nivel Bar and Restaurant.
Held in a relaxed setting, the event attracted a largely middle-aged crowd looking for a quieter and more engaging way to unwind. Soft music allowed room for conversation, concentration, and interaction.
Led by Quiz Master Pius Arinawe, the evening featured several competitive rounds testing participants on different topics. Winning teams received cocktail pitchers, while the overall champions walked away with a bottle of Black & White whisky.
The first round drew strong reactions as participants identified celebrities from iconic red-carpet looks inspired by the recently concluded Met Gala. The session energised the room and tested contestants’ pop culture knowledge.
Organisers also introduced tie-breaker questions for teams that finished level, increasing competition and keeping participants engaged throughout the night.
One of the standout moments came during a face-off between Team Tokyo Revengers and Team Ballads. Contestants were asked: “Diamonds are measured in carats.
The growing popularity of quiz nights reflects changing nightlife preferences in Kampala, with more people moving away from loud party scenes towards experiences that combine entertainment, learning, and social interaction.
Quiz nights have increasingly become part of what many describe as “edutainment”, blending relaxation with mental stimulation.
Attendance has continued to grow with each edition, as returning participants bring friends and new teams join the experience.
“We are seeing more people choose experiences that allow them to connect, think and unwind at the same time. Quiz Night brings all of that together. It’s not just about winning but about the shared moments, the conversations and the energy in the room. That’s what Black & White stands for,” said Raymond Karama.
The quiz nights will continue at different venues across Kampala.
