Speaker of Ugandas Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has urged security agencies to start investigating the assassination of prominent NRM MP Ibrahim Abiriga.

Abiriga, 62, was assassinated together with his bodyguard as they approached his home in Kawanda, Wakiso District, Parliament confirmed on Twitter.

The Parliament of Uganda has also shared a tweet saying the Speaker has learned of the sudden assassination of Abiriga and "sends her condolences to the family, the people of Arua and the country at large".
