IHK responds to alleged negligence after death of Nambaziira

International Hospital Kampala (IHK) has responded to patient negligence allegations after the death of former WBS TV new anchor Nuliat Nambaziira.

IHK, the largest private healthcare group in Uganda, has issued a statement saying the "highest professional standards were extended to Ms. Nambaziira" and was attended to by an "expert team of specialists".

The hospital adds that she was discharged within three days - a standard period of time for uncomplicated caesarean birth.

The clarification from comes days after women activists threaten to sue the Namuwongo based hospital for negligence.

The activists led a a number of concerned people and staged a demonstration outside the hospital premises -- they were flanked by the late's husband, Abas Semujju.

He accuses the hospital of being only after money and not treating patients.

The hospital has said it "welcomes an external audit" while urging activists and media to keep order outside its premises.
