IGP impersonator arrested for giving orders to officers on Facebook

He had also defrauded people lots of money

Police have arrested a man for allegedly impersonating Inspector General of Police (IGP) Okoth Ochola on Facebook.

Geoffrey Kalele, a resident of Namutumba District in Eastern Uganda, has operating a Facebook account in the names of the IGP.

Criminal Investigation Department spokesperson revealed that Kalele started operating the pseudo account between March and June to defraud people.

According to a police report, the suspect has been giving orders to "officers and some unsuspecting officers".

By the time of his arrest, Kalele had also defrauded about UGX700,000 from the public and used it to pay school fees for his children.

His arrest comes barely a day after Police in Kampala arrested a beggar at Mukwano Arcade for faking an amputated hand by wrapping dirty rugs around his fist.
