I offered 'You and Me' to Ang3lina before Lydia Jazmine - Daddy Andre
They had grown up in the same neighbourhood and they even used to share gifts, Andre, who also goes by Andre on the Beat, said in a recent interview.
One day he recorded the said song and after listening to it, Nutty Neithan told him not to sell it but rather sing it himself. When the songstress Angela Nabuufu -- alias Ang3lina -- paid a visit, Andre told her to add her voice to the song.
She also liked it and they agreed to collaborate on it, but they later lost communication after she returned to the U.K., where she is based.
While working with Jeff Kiwanuka to produce songs for Sheebah Karungi, Andre also met the producer Bushington. Bushington and Kiwanuka were both involved in the management of Goodlyfe, and after falling out with the duo, the former started managing Lydia Jazmine and the latter started Team No Sleep.
With no connection to Ang3lina, Andre pitched the idea to Bushington who brought Jazmine to his studio. That's how You and Me was made and Andre broke through as a singer.
You and Me was released in 2018 and it became Daddy Andre's breakthrough song as a singer.
You and Me, which currently has close to 7 million views on YouTube, was written in both Luganda and English.
The groovy ballad is still the most-viewed song on Jazmine's YouTube channel at 5.4 million views, followed by her duet with Geosteady titled Same Way, which has 3 million views. Same Way was produced by Nessim, in 2016, about two years ahead of You and Me.
Meanwhile, that wasn't Andre's first song as a singer. He had also participated in Be With You, which he sang with Gift Ov Kaddo and Beckie 256. It was also fairly popular.
