Hundreds march in Kampala against murder of women & children

Hundreds of people have taken to the street in Ugandas capital, Kampala, to demonstrate against the rampant kidnaps and murder of women and children in the country.

The demonstrators walked from Centenary Park to Railways Grounds along Jinja Road where they gathered to voice their concerns surrounding the government's failure to protect women and children.

They were seen holding placards and wearing t-shirt with awareness messages -- some were heard chanting "stop the killing, stop the murder" during the demonsration.

Uganda Police Force provided officers to protect the marchers, traffic police to ensure every road user is safe.

At least 82 cases of kidnap and murders involving women have been recorded between February and June this year and authorities haven't conclusively released a report.

In 2017 over 42 women have been gruesomely killed across the country.
