This day was endorsed by Ban Ki-moon and since 2013, UN has celebrated this day as a way of reflecting its three key aspects of Sustainable Development Goals including ending poverty, reducing inequality and protecting the planet.

A World Happiness Report on the global state of happiness was released last week.

The report rankings were based on income, freedom, trust, healthy life expectancy, social support and generosity.
