A floods risk alert has been issued by the Disaster Preparedness and Management Department in the Office of The Prime Minister.

The office has advised people "not to walk or allow a driver or boda-boda rider to take them through a flooded road or bridge".

People are urged to wait for "about 15 minutes for the flash floods to clear".

The alert comes days after floods destroyed houses, bridges and property in the areas of Kanungu Distriict and Bududa District, where resettlement plans are underway.
