Reports indicate that the guard shot two people identified as Kiwanuka Kakeeto and Muzamiru Kambugu at close range.

Their bodies have been taken to Jinja Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

Police authorities in Buikwe District are holding the security guard in custody for questioning.

Area leaders have condemned the unfortunate shooting and urged all private security companies to review their recruitment and training processes.

This comes after the locals accused the security guard of acting unprofessional saying he pulled the trigger yet the two men were not trying to escape.

There are over 60 registered private security companies in Uganda.
