Fresh details emerge on the 14 suspects who escaped police cell through a hole

A police cell guard has been arrested after the escape of 14 suspects from Kyotera District police cell on Wednesday night.

The suspects who were facing charges ranging from theft, defilement, assault, gambling and drug use, escaped from the police cell through a hole they dug.

Deputy regional police commander Lameck Kigozi says the guard in under detention on charges of negligence of duty as investigations continue.

He also says the police station administrator delayed to report the escape hence creating room for the suspects to vanish.

Resident District Commissioner Pamela Watuwa has urged the public to help the police force by sharing information which can lead to the capture of the suspects

Police Flying Squad continues to intensify the manhunt for the escaped suspects.
