Foreign workers freed after police raid at their workstation at CGTN

13 foreign workers who were arrested after a raid at China owned media house China Global Television Network(CGTN) have been freed.

The Immigration Department said they were in the country legally. This was after the department ascertained their immigration status.
Police crackdown
Police raided the premises on Wednesday afternoon following an ongoing crackdown against illegal immigrants in the country.
In a video shared on twitter, Journalists working at the media house claimed that police officers stormed their workplace in the name of verifying their immigration documents.

Sports Journalist Shadique Shaban took to twitter to show how police had conducted the raid.
“The police stormed the @cgtnafrica newsroom with guns, apparently looking for foreigners,” read his tweet
