Koinange, who hosts the popular talk show JKLive, had invited Shamalla and two other female MPs, Uasin Gishu Women Rep Gladys Shollei and Nairobi Speaker Beatrice Elachi, to talk about the place of women in politics.

One of the issues that came up was bullying members of the female gender as they seek to rise in male-dominated fields.

Wait a minute, this one (Jennifer)’s boyfriend relied bullied us in school. I don’t know how we survived but he used to beat us up, we used to call you Diana Ross…,” Koinange said as Shamalla protested causing a slight awkwardness in studio.

Jeff please, we are on TV, we are on JKLive…” she responded as the journalist agreed to drop the topic saying it was “a story for another day”.

Elachi remarked that Koinange should host the unidentified boyfriend on the bench as Shollei burst out in laughter.

St Mary's school

Shamalla and Koinange attended the upper-class St Mary’s School located in Nairobi's Lavington area.

Other prominent alumni included President Uhuru Kenyatta, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, Defence CS Raychelle Omamo, State House Deputy Chief of staff Njee Muturi, among others.

Koinange has in the past narrated his experience being bullied by Kenyatta, saying he received a couple of “ngotos” from the boy who later become the foruth President of Kenya.
