In a letter dated August 8, 2023 and addressed to Dokolo district LCV chairman James Otto, Amuriat said that a disciplinary committee must be constituted in accordance with Article 28(3)(b)(iii) of the party constitution.

Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lubwago (acting deputy president for the Buganda region), Kennedy Obello (acting deputy secretary for the presidency), and Dr. George Obeli Ekwaro (acting deputy secretary for mobilisation) are among the leaders Amuriat said must face the disciplinary committee.

Other members include Samuel Mabhoba W'Mugenyi (deputy for foreign and regional affairs), Mubarak Munyagwa (secretary for mobilisation), and Amon Ayesiga Rubarema (secretary for works and transport).

Meanwhile, Amuriat has appointed new leaders in an acting capacity to replace the mentioned members.

"Once the proceedings begin, I will be available to discuss the party's case against each of the accused. In the meantime, and in accordance with the aforementioned constitutional clause, I will make acting appointments to the offices held by the aforementioned members," the letter reads in part.

It further reads: "You should be aware that, with the exception of Hon. Ibrahim Ssemuju Nganda and Mr. Amon Ayesigome, who were elected by the National Delegates Conference, all of the above members were appointed by me on an acting basis."

The squabbles erupted after Ssemujju accused the party's secretary-general, Nandala Mafabi, and Amuriat of getting what he called ‘dirty money’ from President Museveni to support their 2021 campaigns.

The disciplinary action follows Nandala's harsh decision to fire Ssemujju as the party's chief whip in Parliament.
