Daniel Kabuye’s actions prompted a public outcry after the video went viral on social media.

He mercilessly beat his child after he reportedly got lost his way to school in Kamwokya.

The teary father said he regrets his actions and asked for forgiveness vowing never to do it again.

“It hurts me. I’m crying because I regret my actions. I seek forgiveness. I will never do it again,” Daniel Kabuye said.

The police department of child and family protection has opened a case of child abuse against Daniel Kabuye and the matter is going to be forwarded to court.

“We have made a file and we have opened up a case of child abuse because of what he did. He over punished the child and that is not good. It is criminal and we are proceeding the matter to court,” Hellen Nakigandan from Police Child and Family Protection unit said.

Police warned parents against abusing the rights of children saying it's an offence punishable the laws of Uganda.
