NRM MP Ibrahim Abiriga, 62, was assassinated on Friday evening together with his bodyguard, identified as Said Kongo, 48.
Abiriga's prominence was birthed from his unfiltered love for the ruling party NRM and his controversial statements and support for the Constitutional amendment of article 102b that sought to abolish presidential age limit.
His controversial act of urinating by the roadside cemented his name in the wrong books.
How they were killed
Reports indicate that Abiriga and his bodyguard were trailed and gunned down near the MP's home in Kawanda by masked assailants travelling on a boda boda.
Police recovered several AK47 cartridges at the scene of crime and are yet to verify if the MP and his bodyguard had weapons on them
Investigations
Security agencies have started investigating the assassination of the 62-year-old Arua Municipality legislator.
President Museveni, in his first response to the murder of one of his loyal cadres, tasked security personnel to quicken investigations and present a report.
He called murder of the MP as 'senseless killing'.
Burial
The body of the late Ibrahim Abiriga will be taken to Kibuli Mosque for funeral prayers on Sunday, 10th June, and later taken to lie in state at Parliament for last funeral respects during a special session.
He will be buried on Monday at his ancestral home in Lukudu Village, Eramva Parish, Rhino Camp Sub County in Lower Madi Constituency, Arua District.
Parliament will cater for his burial expenses.
