When someone who has been the breadwinner is gone, a lot of challenges start to come up,” he said.

“I am now struggling with house bills – electricity, water – many things are needed and I am trying my best, but it is not easy.”

Following the passing of his mother on September 18, 2023, some of the family friends and stakeholders in the music industry came out and committed to support the family.

But Kasavu says only a handful of friends have reached out with cash handouts to help with the bills.

At the time of her passing, Lagu was organizing a fundraising concert where she hoped to raise enough money to start her own business.

The singer, having been weakened by kidney disease, could not carry on making a living through music shows.

The concert was supposed to take place on October 28, 2023, and was being organized by some of her friends including Mesach Semakula, Diana Nabatanzi and others.

So far, Kasavu says plans are still underway to hold this concert.

The organizing committee is still positive about the idea even though they have not shared with me much about the preparations,” he said.

Kasavu also says he’s currently preparing an act that he will present at the show. This he said, might be a poem or a song.
