The legislator was assassinated on Friday evening together with his bodyguard in Kawanda, Wakiso District.

His body will lie in state at Parliament for a special session on Sunday June 10 after Clerk to Parliament issued a memo.

The body of the Muslim legislator will also lie at Gadaffi Mosque for the Muslim community to pay their last respects.

The prominent NRM stalwart will be buried on at his ancestral home in Arua District. He was supposed to be buried today because of the Islamic tradition.

However, President Museveni, who is hosting Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed Ali at national Heroes Day celebrations in Kakumiro District, requested his family and Muslim community to postpone the burial programs to accord the legislator a burial that befits his stature.
