Byanyima tweets 'Museveni insults our intelligence' after his heated Labour Day speech

Executive Director of Oxfam International Winnie Byanyima, also wife to opposition figure Dr Kizza Besigye, has reacted to President Musevenis controversial speech during national Labour Day celebrations on Tuesday.

Ms Byanyima, like any other Ugandan, shared her two cents on "I get a low pay of UGX3.6 million and I'm the President of Uganda"statement by Mr. Museveni.

In a tweet, the former Member of Parliament said "Museveni insults our intelligence".

She also said the president "lives in opulence at taxpayers cost"  -- adding -- "he hasn’t paid 4 food, rent, transport, medical bills, school fees 4 kids" for the last 32 years he has been in power.

The 73-year-old made the statement while addressing the issue of salary demands by doctors and other civil servants in the country.

"I have been working for Uganda for the last 53 years with no or little pay," he said accusing doctors of being badly behaved, selfish and unprofessional.

He also revealed why government is planning to import Cuban doctors saying the Ugandan doctors tried to blackmail him by boycotting patients in hospitals.
