Busoga Royal Wedding gets Shs. 265Million boost from Airtel
Telecom company Airtel Uganda on Friday announced a Shs. 256Million contribution toward the royal wedding, which is slated for November 18, 2023.
Of this, Shs. 40 Million is going to the organizing committee as hard cash, while Shs. 226Million will go toward other aspects of the wedding preparations
The Kingdom of Busoga, the rest of the sub-region, and the nation as a whole have been counting down to the day when the Kyabazinga Wilberforce Nadiope Gabula will exchange marital vows with Queen Jovia Mutesi.
Japhet Aritho, the MD, of Airtel Money told the press at the Kampala Sheraton that their contribution was in part an appreciation of the support that the telecom has received over the years in Busoga.
He congratulated the royals on the big milestone and called on the rest of Uganda to pick important lessons of unity from the people of Busoga.
“A new generation queen has arrived; her title is one that signifies not just a roral position, but she is now a mother of all the people of Busoga,” said Aritho.
“We want to commit to ensure that every facet of this celebration is a befitting tribute to this remarkable union.”
According to Ali Balunywa, the Airtel Sales and Distribution Director, part of the activities that the company will be engaged in organizing ‘kasiki’ parties, at different locations like Iganga, Luuka, and Bugiri in the build-up to the big day.
On his part, Osuman Alunul Ahmed, the Deputy Prime Minister of Busoga thanked the telecom for the big gesture.
“We want to thank you for joining us in supporting the preparations and contributing to our royal wedding,” he said.
“We acknowledge that is in part a show of your royalty to the Kingdom and to the people of Busoga.”
