Four bodies of UPDF soldiers who were killed in Somalia have returned home.
The bodies arrived at the military base in Entebbe and were received in honour.
The four soldiers were killed after al-Shabaab militants attacked five military bases in Shabelle region, Somalia, and launched coordinated attacks, including detonating two suicide car bombs – one hitting AU vehicle.
Earlier, President Museveni tweeted that the number of killed UPDF soldiers had risen to 8.
UPDF spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire told local media that other four bodies will be flown back home after postmortem is complete.
“We have initially brought four bodies and the rest will be repatriated later after postmortem reports and others preparations are done,” he said.
Al-Shabaab on Sunday claimed that the attacked had killed about 56 UPDF soldiers and injured dozens.
