Bobi Wine charged with treason after finding 2 guns in his hotel room

Bobi Wine and Kassiano Wadri have been charged with treason following their Arrest in Arua on Monday.

The two politicians also face charges of unlawful possession of firearms and malicious damage to the motor vehicle belonging to the convoy of the president.

Authorities told reporters on Wednesday that Bobi Wine had 2 submachine guns in his hotel room. One had 16 rounds of ammunition and the other 19.

Also, police recovered a pistol which had 12 rounds of ammunition from Wadri's hotel room.

Moses Ali, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament, said in Parliament that Bobi Wine will appear before a court martial in Gulu.

The other MPs who were arrested will be arraigned before the Chief Magistrate in Gulu.

A section of MPs on Wednesday challenged the decision to try Bobi Wine before the Court Martial in Gulu because he is a civilian.

A 5 member committee has been sent to Gulu to witness trial and assess the state of detained MPs.
