Kiambu Deputy Governor James Nyoro has been barred from appointing or reshuffling the county's executive committee.

This is after a petition was filed protesting Nyoro's move to shift a section of county executives.

The suit filed by Marion Njoroge claimed that Nyoro has been violating article 179 (5) by exercising powers only limited to the governor.

She claimed that Mr Nyoro had purported to reshuffle, dismiss, and or to assign the executive secretaries hence acted in excess of his powers.

According to the petitioner, the DG had unlawfully and illegally dismissed a large number of county enforcement officers from employment a move she said affected her negatively.

Ms Njoroge asked the court to restrain Mr Nyoro from appointing, reshuffling, reassigning, dismissing or interfering with the existing executive secretaries, chief officers, enforcement officers or any other senior officers.

The ruling comes in the backdrop of changes made by the Kiambu DG who had withdrawn official vehicles assigned to two senior officials allied to embattled Governor Ferdinand Waititu.

Roads, Transport, Public Works and Energy executive Juliet Kimemia and her Finance and Planning counterpart Mr Kigo Njenga were accused by the DG of engaging in politics instead of the dockets they are assigned to.

Through Gazette Notice No. 8903, Mr Nyoro moved Mr Njenga from the Finance to the Trade docket and replaced him with Mr Wilson Mburu Kang’ethe.
