Babu Owino to spend another week in jail after court's directive

Embakasi MP Babu Owino will remain in remand for 7 days pending his bail ruling.

On Monday the legislator entered a not guilty plea, denying charges of attempted murder brought against him.

The court made the ruling to have Babu remanded in the case which involves the shooting of DJ evolve at B-club.

According to Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, the views of the victim, Felix Odhiambo alias Dj Evolve have not been mentioned on whether bail should be granted or not.

Lawyer's argument

Babu's lawyer, Cliff Ombetta argued that the MP should be given bail since he had taken the victim to hospital.

 “The accused person is the one that took the victim to hospital. He has gone ahead and paid Ksh600,000 from his pocket to Nairobi Hospital for his treatment,” Ombeta said.

“He is a family man, he cooperated with police in every step and is a Member of Parliament who has to go back to work,” he added.

The MP was arrested on Friday after the shooting which left Dj Evolve nursing gun shot wounds.
